Audacity is a free audio editor written by an international team of volunteer developers. Release 1.2.6 is the stable version for all users. The release 1.3.14 is for experienced users. For the two versions of Audacity running under Vista, it should meet two important points :

1) It is important to have the sound card driver up to date as possible. It even happens that the updated version will not work on reboot. It is in this case to return to the previous driver version by going to "config panel" -> "Advanced system settings "->'' System" -> "Hardware "->"" Device Manager" -> " Sound, video and game controllers ". If after that, access to the sound freezes, turn off the new features installed.

 2) We must open the "Sound" by clicking the little speaker beside the time or access it from the control panel. Select the tab "Records". Configuring the sound card in Audacity

Several export formats are available in Audacity :

- MP3 is available after you install the Lame encoder 3.97. The huge advantage to export to this format is to save space. The small disadvantage is the time to export significantly more important and registration in 2 steps. (Select the file name and edit MP3 file tags) Again, it may be wise to use CDex for conversion to the chain.

- The Ogg Vorbis may be useful. This demonstrates that the software meets a lot of needs without having a list of overly comprehensive.

Specify the location in Audacity LAME

Once you have downloaded the Lame encoder, he must choose a location. The most logical is to store it in the program directory. Here, for example, in "Audacity", it created the directory "libmp3lame 3.97," where you just have to copy the dll "lame_enc.dll.
